April Favourites 2017 – A Little Bit of Everything

April Favourites 2017

It’s monthly favourites time again! I have a little mix for you today that includes; makeup, skincare, a bra and a superfood. A crazy mish- mash of products that pretty much gives you a good sense of me as a person. This could be my dating app profile: I like healthy food, comfy bras and am obsessed with makeup and skincare. Good thing I’m not actually dating cause I probably wouldn’t catch many dates, but hey, that’s just me.

Pur cosmetics eye polish

Pür Eye Polish

The Pür Eye Polish is the perfect and easiest way to add a little shimmer to your eyes. They come in these little pots with a mesh screen on top to allow you to get the perfect amount of polish. The formula is very wet, but dries quickly and doesn’t budge or wear off throughout the day. They can be worn on their own for a hint of shimmer or on top of other shadows for a more dramatic look. I picked up two, in the shades: Satin – a rosy champagne and Silk – a warm bronze.

I’ve been wearing both shades non-stop over the last month and love the staying power and the look of these guys. In particular Silk is amazing over Maybellines Bad to the Bronze for a quick bronze, smokey, shimmery eye.

∗ unfortunately I did have to pay an additional charge when I picked these up at the post office. Just FYI if your thinking of ordering from Pür.

Kopari Beauty travel kit and lotion

Kopari Beauty

I ordered a little sampling from Kopari Beauty a few weeks back and their products have turned out to be just lovely. In particular, I love that all of their products are coconut oil based, are totally natural and free of all the bad stuff. Since this was my first experience with the brand I thought I would get a skin care travel set; the Face the Day & Night Kit  and the Coconut Body Milk to try. Here’s a break down of these coconutty products and why they made my favourites list this month!

Face the Day & Night Kit

Coconut Cleansing Oil – this is a really great, non-eye stinging makeup remover and cleanser. I’ve been using this in the evening to remove my makeup on full face makeup days. Just a few small pumps of this oil worked over the skin and removed with a warm washcloth takes every inch of makeup off.

kopari coconut rose toner

Coconut Rose Toner – I didn’t realize how much I was going to love this rose-water toner! It’s so refreshing to spritz on in the mornings pre-moisturizer. It also works wonderfully as a makeup setting spray and to refresh your makeup throughout the day.

Coconut Face Cream – To be real I’ve used this product the least out of the whole kit. As you may or may not know I recently revamped my skin care routine and have been very faithful to my current products in an effort to resolve certain skin issues. If your interested in all that jazz, I’ll link my skin care routine post here. But in saying that, I have been using this on my neck and décolletage and it’s a very lightweight yet very moisturizing cream that I think would work for most skin types.

kopari lip love

Lip Love – A very juicy clear lip gloss that saturates your lips with moisture. It has that slippery lip oil feel and is not sticky at all. A great option if your lips are in need of some love.

Coconut Body Milk

The Coconut Body Milk is a beautiful body lotion! It absorbs in quickly with no sticky feel and smells A-MAZ-ING. Not like coconuts though which was surprising. It’s has a subtle vanilla fragrance that lasts on the skin for most of the day. My skin is left feeling super soft and nourished, basically it’s everything you need in a body lotion. I only wish it came in a bigger bottle and was less expensive!

Products from this brand would make a wonderful gift for all your natural lady friends, they would love it!

knix 8 in 1 evolution bra

I have to tell you that I’m a sucker for Facebook Ads. Well, any kind of ad to be totally honest. They can reel me in, especially late at night when poor decision-making is at its highest level and no one is around to watch me scramble for my credit card. It gets me in trouble from time to time and I end up with products that I neither need or even like upon arrival. It’s ridiculous and I’m going to try to do better, really I am.

This time it was the ads for Knix bras that hooked me. You may have seen these pop up on your news feed as well, so you might be aware of this clever marketing strategy. Luckily for me (this time), my foray into advertising enticement proved successful. I ordered the Knix 8-in-1 Evolution Bra in reptile/beige, hoping for an extremely comfortable, versatile bra that I could last all day in without wanting to rip it off. And you know, that’s exactly what I got!

They are totally seemless, reversible bras with no underwire that work perfectly for everyday. Think like your most comfy t-shirt bra ever.  The one that I got has a snazzy blue reptile pattern on one side and basic nude on the other. You definitely get more “oomph” out of them if you cross the straps in the back, but wearing them the standard way is the ultimate loungey way-to-go. I also think this bra is going to be great for travel. From being cozy on the plane to having multiple options while away, it’s made to go on a journey!

spirulina powder

I had been reading a lot about the benefits of spirulina for a years and finally decided it was time to give it a go. What I didn’t expect was to actually like the taste! I like the flavour so much in fact that I felt it had to go on my favourites list this month. This is not the norm, so you must be warned, most people do not like the taste of spirulina. If your curious or interested in taking it, try it in a smoothie from a nice vegan restaurant first and if it makes you wanna vom, no biggie you’re not alone. You still have the option to take it in tablet form.

I add a teaspoon to my smoothies and it adds a great flavour (to me) and gives the whole shake a deep blue/green colour. Pretty cool bonus I think. And I’m not the only one, my friend Kristen likes it too. So at least there’s two of us!

You will find differing benefits and opinions online about spirulina. So my advice would be: read as much as you can about it, maybe even ask your doc and then see if this is something that may work for you.

I personally believe it’s been a super beneficial addition to my diet over the last month! I have the Prairie Naturals Organic Spirulina Powder for now, but I am ordering the Hawaiian Spirulina Powder because I have read that it’s the most pure and best form you can take.

As always I would love to hear about your spring favourites too! Comment below! xo
