Spring Beauty Favourites – March 2017

I am so excited that it’s officially spring!! The weather is slowly but surely changing for the better and lighter, brighter and fresher makeup is on the menu. I have some lovely spring beauty favourites to share with you today that will hopefully get you into that springy mindset. Let’s jump right in!

Hello, my name is Alana and I have a lipstick addiction. I can’t help the fact that lipstick is without a doubt the easiest way to change-up your look. Which makes it next to impossible for me not to grab a few each time it’s in arms reach. Not so great for the pocketbook, but lucky for you because I can try them and review them! And of course I have some beautiful spring-worthy brights for you today!

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick

First lets start off with the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom and Watermelon. These creamy, hydrating and minty lipsticks are both unbelievably bright and sunny. They soothe and treat the lips for a plump, glossy look. And talk about adorable packaging! All the shades are housed in cute floral print paper tubes. One check for cuteness and one check for sustainable packaging. These shades will give you an instant pick-me-up no matter what the weather.

∗Sidenote: please excuse my white, powdery skin in the pictures below. I’m in the process of testing out natural foundations and powders. And although this one looked ok in real life, it did not photograph well. Might be a dud, to say the least!

If you crave that brightness, but want a longer lasting formula then look no further. The Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Stellar Sunrise has got you covered. This is one of the most kiss-proof, smudge-proof, eat-proof, drink-proof lipsticks I have ever tried. It will seriously last you all day with no need for touch-ups. It’s totally comfortable on the lips and also doesn’t add years to your appearance like other liquid lipsticks. And the colour!! It’s right in that sweet spot for me. Not too in-your-face-bright, not too dull, just perfect.

A mascara that I have been reaching for again and again over the last month is the Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara. I purchased this in the New York Minute Makeup Kit, which I wrote a blog post on, read about all those goodies here. It’s that no-fail mascara for me that gives me incredibly fluffy, voluminous lashes that don’t flake or smudge all day. I also really like the fact that you can squeeze the tube to warm up the product and get more onto the brush. An innovation that you will see more of soon with mascaras like the Diorshow Pump’N’Volume Mascara

I found this Daniel Sandler WaterColour Blush in Glow on the Beauty and the Boutique website. I mentioned this site ages ago in one of my  previous posts. If you haven’t checked her out yet, head on over, she has some amazing product recommendations and tips! Anyways, back to the blush. What drew me to this particular shade was it’s versatility. Somewhere between a bronzer and a blush colour, it works beautifully on the cheeks and lids. It’s one of my favourite products to whip out when I just want a simple, yet harmonious look. Just a tiny dab on your cheeks and eyelids blends out effortlessly and melts into the skin for a very natural glow. It’s the easiest way to achieve that beachy bronzed goddess look!

Speaking of bronzed goddesses, that leads me right to my next favourite. Estee Lauder Bronzed Goddess Eau Fraiche is the ultimate summer scent. Full disclosure – I wear it all year-long! I have been captivated by it since I purchased it last spring and am down to the last dregs in my bottle. For me that says a lot because I typically have a hard time finding scents that I love. If you’re a coconut vanilla kinda girl then this is your perfume my friend! Visit your local Estee Lauder counter, give yourself a spritz, walk around for a bit and have a shop. After a few minutes if you don’t love it, no harm done, but if you do……. then you can be in your own personal coconut heaven all summer or year-long.

A quick shout-out to my new Paula’s Choice skin care! They have been treating me so right, a definite favourite from last month. I wrote a whole blog post dedicated to my new arrivals, read all about them here.

I have to, have to tell you about the Sephora brand Solid Brush Cleanser. Not really a skin care product per-say but more of a care product for the things you put on your face. Let’s roll with it. I had been using the Beauty Blender solid cleanser with great results, but kept feeling like I was wasting my money on a gimmicky cleanser. So I tried countless other ways to cleanse my brushes from baby shampoo to organic options. They all required tons of time, elbow grease and probable damage to my makeup brushes. So I thought that’s it!, I’m going back to the Beauty Blender cleanser. But while in Sephora, a lovely associate lead us (me and my Mom) to the house brand and I am so glad she did! It’s more reasonably priced and dare I say better than the Beauty Blender cleanser! I just finished cleaning my brushes this morning with so much ease I was shaking my head at why I hadn’t thought of trying it before. It’s a keeper!
